FG35 Primer Review

FG35 Primer Review

When it comes to constructing a warm flat roof, one of the most important steps is to ensure proper insulation and waterproofing. One product that can help achieve both of these goals is the FG35 primer.

FG35 primer is a high-quality, water-based primer that is specially designed for use on a variety of roofing surfaces, including concrete, bitumen, and asphalt. It is used as a base coat for torch-on membranes ,liquid applied waterproofing systems or prior to using Alutrix Vapour barrier

One of the main benefits of using FG35 primer is that it helps to create a strong, durable bond between the roofing substrate and the waterproofing layer. This bond is crucial in ensuring that water does not penetrate the roof, which can lead to damage and costly repairs.

In addition to its bonding properties, FG35 primer also acts as a barrier against water and other liquids. It has excellent resistance to both water and alkalis, which means it can withstand exposure to harsh weather conditions without deteriorating.

Another advantage FG35 primer claims is that it is easy to apply. The instructions imply it can be applied using a roller, brush, or spray, In practice I did not find this to be the case. The tin we were using did not mention the spray method for which we had prepared. As we had also read application could be applied by sheepskin roller this was our back up method. However we quickly found that the primer bonded the roller to the roof deck so it was impossible to roll. Finally we applied by brush. You can watch a video of our approach at attempting to apply . Its quick-drying formula also makes it a popular choice for contractors looking to speed up the installation process.

Overall, FG35 primer is an excellent choice for anyone looking to construct a warm flat roof. Its ability to provide strong bonding and waterproofing properties, as well as its ease of application, make it a reliable and efficient choice for both professionals and DIY enthusiasts alike.
